Strategy Lead

Reports to: Managing Director / CEO
Location: Mumbai / Kolkata (with periodic travel across properties)
Function: Corporate Strategy, Implementation, Business Analytics

Role Purpose

Set and drive SHL's group-level strategy across its properties — and see it through. This role owns the full arc: shaping direction, translating it into decisions and initiatives, driving adoption across properties, and tracking whether it delivers. Strategy here is judged by what changes on the ground, not by what is proposed.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

• Develop and maintain the group's multi-property strategy: revenue, repeat-guest economics, OTA dependency, MICE and banqueting yield, and F&B profitability.
• Lead capital procurement analysis (infrastructure, plant, technology) with clear repair-vs-replace and build-vs-buy framing.
• Track competitive developments across West Bengal, Sikkim, Darjeeling, and other operating regions, and translate them into action.
• Own the group's financial models: forecasts, budgets, reconciliation, incentive structures, and procurement business cases.

Implementation & Change Management

• Turn strategy into sequenced, ownable initiatives with clear scope, timelines, and accountability across properties and HO functions.
• Drive adoption on the ground — working through GMs and property teams to embed new policies, systems, and ways of working, not just hand them over.
• Anticipate and manage resistance: bring stakeholders along, adapt the rollout to local realities, and sustain momentum past the launch.
• Codify commercial policy (sales, banqueting, vendor management) into repeatable, documented standards that actually get used.

Tracking & Performance

• Define the KPIs and milestones that show whether each initiative is landing, and build the cadence to review them.
• Monitor rollout progress and business impact across properties; surface slippage early and course-correct.
• Produce board- and GM-facing reporting on strategic progress and results; close the loop between what was decided and what was delivered.

Support

• Support GMs and HO functions with decision support on demand.
• Contribute to HR and organisational design, including the grade framework.

Qualifications & Experience

• 3–6 years in strategy, consulting, corporate finance, or operations — ideally in hospitality, real estate, or multi-site businesses.
• Demonstrated record of not just designing strategy but implementing it across a distributed organisation and managing the change that requires.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical ability; comfortable owning a P&L view.
• MBA or equivalent analytical background preferred.
