Eighty campus interns in thirty-five days, and ninety-five percent stayed.

We expected to trade quality for speed with a cohort this size. Ninety-five percent of them are still with us — that number settled the argument.

01 · The challenge

The situation

The centre needed a strong intake of interns across development and finance, fast. Campus hiring at volume usually forces a trade: move quickly and the selection bar drifts, or hold the bar and miss the window.

The harder test is what happens after joining. A large intern cohort is only a win if the people are good enough to keep, which puts all the weight on how well the screening holds up under speed.

02 · The approach

What we did

We built one end-to-end engine rather than a scramble: role definition, campus outreach, screening, interview briefing and debriefing, and offer rollout, each stage planned so nothing fell through the gaps between them.

Selection standards were fixed up front and applied the same way across the cohort, so the speed came from a tight process, not from a lower bar.

  1. 01
A single owned pipeline from campus outreach through to onboarding.
  2. 02
Fixed selection standards applied consistently across the whole cohort.
  3. 03
Structured interview briefing and debriefing to keep calibration steady.
  4. 04
An offer-rollout cadence built to hold the thirty-five-day timeline.
03 · The outcome

The outcome

Eighty interns went from requisition to joining in thirty-five days, across development and finance, without the selection bar moving to hit the date.

The real result came later: ninety-five percent of the cohort converted to full-time, the clearest evidence that the speed had not been bought at the cost of quality.
